Apply

The International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) welcomes applications from students around the world.

Scholarship applications close on 7th January 2027, 1300 (UK time).

Scholarship applicants will be informed of their scholarship application outcome in April 2027.

All applicants put forward for scholarship consideration will receive an offer of admission to the programme following announcement of the scholarship awards.

Self-Funded applications submitted after the scholarship deadline will be advised of their application outcome on a rolling basis.

APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2027

Applicants will be recruited to the IMSISS programme generally and asked to indicate their Study Track preference in their application form, which is linked below. The University of Glasgow Admissions team will assess applications for the programme generally, using the base entry requirements for Study Tracks A and C and make offers. Applicants should note that Study Track preference is not guaranteed, and those who wish to be considered for Study Track B (Trento) must provide proof of meeting the additional language requirements outlined on the entry requirements section.

Applicants should indicate their pathway preference on the application form by clicking below. (Note, the term study track and pathway is used interchangeably.)

To confirm, this form should be completed by all applicants to the IMSISS programme.

Please complete the form and upload as a PDF document to your International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) application (standard University of Glasgow Application for Graduate Studies) under the “Scholarship Form” document section, along with all other supporting documentation.

Scholarship applicants who learn they have been unsuccessful in securing the Erasmus Mundus scholarship during the April announcement will be required to pay a deposit by the deadline set in their offer letter to secure their place on the programme as self-funded students. Scholarship applicants who are successful in scholarship selection and are notified of being awarded the Erasmus Mundus scholarship are not required to pay a deposit to secure their place on the programme.  The consortium therefore advises all scholarship applicants to wait until after scholarships have been announced in April before paying a deposit. Self-funded applicants will have a 28-day rolling deposit deadline from the date they receive an offer. The process of confirming applicants’ Study Tracks will be repeated at set points throughout the recruitment cycle.

Scoring for scholarships is broken down as follows:

  • 30% academic merit
  • 40% personal statement
  • 30% other (relevant research, professional experience, internships, extra academic activities, publication)

The University of Glasgow will manage applications to this programme. We ask that you apply online and ensure that all documents are uploaded and submitted by the application deadline. Applicants to the programme must submit all the necessary supporting documentation with the online application.

You are advised to read the information below and the Application Information before starting your application. It will ensure you are ready to proceed, as well as answer many common questions about the application process. Answers to additional FAQs asked by applicants in recent years can be found HERE and you are encouraged to consult these.

Please note that a £2000 deposit will be required to secure a place on the programme. Scholarship applicants won’t need to pay their deposit until after scholarship announcements have been made.

Please note that we do not accept deferral requests before the start of studies.

At the University of Trento, IMSISS students on Study Pathway B are given priority access to modern, university-run accommodation, subject to availability, during their second mobility period. Additionally, self-funded students may apply for UniTrento’s Erasmus+ Study mobility grant (KA131 Individual Support) as a contribution to the travel and subsistence costs of their stay at Charles University during their third mobility period.

If you are successful in receiving an offer for the programme, please note that where a checklist item date of 31st August exists on your offer letter, this is the date to provide your final documents to meet all your offer conditions, NOT the date for submitting documents for scholarship consideration. To be considered for scholarship, the necessary documents, including proof of English-language proficiency, must be provided by the specified scholarship deadline.
